Pom Pom Cake Toppers

Hello friends! Yesterday was my birthday and I wasn't really planning to have an extravagant celebration because it was also Good Friday. But I still asked my sister to bake a cake for me so I can at least blow my birthday cake on my birthday. Hehe.

And of course, my birthday cake has to have some personal touch which is why I made these yarn pom pom cake toppers.

For the cake, we just made it with regular vanilla batter with buttercream frosting. While that one's chilling in the fridge, we made the pom poms.

You can actually make yarn pom poms with a fork. If you want to learn how to make them, click here. There are tons of tutorials that you will find on Pinterest. It's very easy!

And then, you can stick your pom poms on wooden skewers with hot glue. But in my case, our bamboo skewers were too thin so I decided to use plastic drinking straws instead.

And here's a bouquet of pom poms for you! Cut the tip of the straw diagonally so you can easily insert them on the cake. Paper straws will also work if you have the thick and sturdy ones.

Take the cake out of your fridge and decorate it with your awesome pom poms!

Your regular white frosted cake just got colorful. I like how white the birthday cake is. It's like a blank canvas. And then the cake topper is the subject of the painting. Haha.

Let me know what you guys think of this tutorial. :) Spruce up your plain birthday cake with easy DIY pom pom cake toppers.

Brownie Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting

Hi guys! Here's part 2 of the Halloween Collab series with The Four Eyed Wonder. Today I'm going to share with you the recipe of Brownie Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting. Believe it or not, it was just last week when I found out that peanut butter and brownies go so well together. Where the hell have I been and why didn't I know that? You can never go wrong with that salty + sweet combo!

This recipe makes 12 cupcakes. Here's how you make them:

Brownie Cupcakes:
I got this recipe from Two Tiny Kitchens but instead of using a 9x9 inch pan, I used cupcake pans.
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate syrup
- 1 cup flour

Combine butter and sugar in a mixing bowl. Then add the eggs, vanilla, chocolate syrup and flour, and mix them together. Line your cupcake pans and pour the batter on each liner. Bake this at 350F for 30 minutes, or when a toothpick is inserted it should come out clean.

Frosting:
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 4 heaping spoons of creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 spoons milk (I used soy milk)
*spoon = regular dinner spoon

First make sure everything is at room temperature. You can use an electric mixer or you can just use a fork, which I did and it was fine. Add the powdered sugar and softened butter in a bowl and mix them together until it's smooth. Then add the peanut butter one spoon at a time. At this point the mixture will be sticky. Gradually add in the milk until everything is nice and creamy.

Then to frost the cupcakes, scoop out the mixture and place them in a piping bag or just use a spatula. Decorate your cupcakes with toppers and enjoy!

Look at these Witch Feet Toppers, they're so adorable! Allie of The Four Eyed Wonder made them from paper straw and black construction paper. Check out her tutorial on how to do it!

Try making the peanut butter frosting and let me know how it turns out for you. Stay tuned next week for another Fright Night Craft Project with Allie and Me!

Fathers Day Printouts

Happy Fathers Day to everyone!

I was planning to bake fathers day cupcakes unfortunately they turned out to be a terrible disaster. It was such a horrifying experience and now I realize that I am a big failure at making cupcake icing. I just can't make the icing fluffy enough.

So if anyone out there who would like to share a good and easy recipe for cupcake icing, then I would love to try it.

Anyway, I didn't want to put to waste what my sister made for Fathers day. It was supposed to be for our cupcake toppers.

Aside from cupcake toppers, these can also be used as badges or cut outs for your fathers day greeting cards. You may download the printout here for free.

And check out my sister's artworks here

Again, happy fathers day to all!
