Ants on a Log is one of the most nutritious snacks for children mainly because you have protein from the peanut butter and your kids get to eat fruits and vegetables at the same time.
Here is how to make them:
- Chop off the celery leaves and store them for future use. Then chop the celery stalks into halves or threes, or even into bite size pieces.
- Spread the peanut butter on the celery
- Put the raisins on top of the peanut butter, lining them up like ants on a log.
Children may have fun making these snacks on their own. And according to my sister (who is a preschool teacher), when kids prepare their own snack, they tend to eat it and finish it.
